About

Built by builders. For builders.

The Story

CutOnce started with a simple frustration: doing construction math on a phone calculator is painful.

Fractions don't work on standard calculators. Material formulas live on scattered websites. And getting the math wrong means wasted time, wasted material, and an extra trip to the supply house.

We built CutOnce to fix that. One app with every construction calculation a builder needs (fractions, materials, angles, stairs, rafters, conversions), all designed around how people actually work on a job site.

CutOnce is made by Verik Labs LLC.

About the app

CutOnce is a construction calculator app built for the people who actually swing hammers. It handles the math behind stairs, rafters, concrete, drywall, decking, paint, board feet, area, and fractional arithmetic. These are the calculations that come up every day on real jobsites and home projects.

The app is built around three commitments. It works fully offline, because cell signal on a jobsite is not guaranteed and a calculator should never quit working when you need it most. It is a one-time purchase with free updates, not a subscription, because builders should not have to rent the same tool every month. And it is designed for fingers in gloves and screens in sunlight: large hit targets, clear typography, and a clear interface that respects the trade.

CutOnce is available on iPhone, iPad, and Android, with full English and Spanish localization. It is built and maintained by Scott Brady, an indie software developer based in Seattle, who set out to bring better construction tools to builders, contractors, and DIY homeowners who deserve apps that respect their time, their craft, and their wallets. The mission is simple: make construction math fast, accurate, and accessible to everyone who builds. Calculate once. Build right.

Our mission

Make construction math fast, accurate, and accessible to everyone who builds, from licensed contractors running crews to first-time homeowners building a bookshelf.

Values

Accuracy first.

Every calculation is verified. Trust the numbers.

Simplicity always.

Type it in, get your answer, get back to work.

Respect the trade.

We build tools for people who build things. No fluff.

Founder, Verik Labs LLC

Scott Brady is the founder of CutOnce and Verik Labs LLC. A software engineer based in Seattle with 20 years of experience building software, Scott started CutOnce after getting fed up with the construction calculator apps already on the market. Every one he tried was either gated behind a subscription or felt like it had not been redesigned in a decade. CutOnce is the app he wanted: a one-time purchase, no subscriptions, that respects the trade.
